Tianjin Steamed Pancake Recipe

Flour: 300g
Water: 150g



1. Knead the flour and water into a dough. Let it rest for a while.


2. Place water in a steamer and bring to a boil over high heat. While the water is boiling, divide the dough into equal-sized small pieces.


3. Use a rolling pin to roll each piece into a thin pancake.


4. When the water in the steamer is boiling, place the rolled pancake inside, and cover with the lid.


5. Prepare the second pancake. After rolling it out, open the steamer lid, place the second pancake on top of the first one, cover the lid, and continue with the next pancake. Repeat until all pancakes are made. After placing the last pancake, cover the lid and steam for about ten more minutes.


6. Remove from the steamer.


7. Use these pancakes to wrap any ingredients you like.
